Petplan Awards 2019

We are ecstatic to let you know that Blue House Veterinary Centre were double award winners at the 2019 Petplan Veterinary Awards!

With 42000 nominations across five categories from practices all across the country, it is a massive achievement that we are all very proud of.

Team member Sharon Scarratt  won the esteemed Practice Support Staff of the Year Award, and the whole practice was awarded the biggest accolade - Practice of the Year!

Award Ceremony Team

The winners were announced on the 4th April during a ceremony at the iconic Town Hall in Birmingham. Now in their 20th year, the awards celebrated the nation’s most outstanding vets, vet nurses, practices, practice managers and support staff. They are often referred to as Oscars of the veterinary world!

No one knew the winners until the night, when short videos were played for each of the 3 finalists in each category. We were all shocked and astonished to discover we had won!

On receiving their award, the team said: “It’s amazing, we can’t believe it, and it’s fabulous. We wish everyone could be here as it’s completely team effort that’s made this possible. We’re so proud to be Blue House!”

Tragically Sharon passed away before the award announcements but her nomination was accepted posthumously. Judges highlighted her multitalented approach to balancing client care and supporting fellow employees with a wide range of responsibilities. She constantly looked for ways to improve client care with in depth knowledge about the workings of the practice.

Receiving the award on her behalf her parents said: “We are so, so proud of our daughter, what she has achieved tonight. She would have loved every minute of being here. It was wonderful to have the team on stage; we thought what would Sharon say? She’d say it was a team effort, she loved that job so much, it wasn’t a job it was a vocation. She loved animals and people.”

Sharon received a standing ovation from the whole of the audience and there were many happy tears as we all remembered her in such a fitting tribute.
