EMS (extra mural study)
Every year we take on veterinary students from across the country for the compulsory Extra Mural Study that they must undertake as part of their training to become a Veterinary Surgeon. They take part in all aspects of practice life, so you are likely to see them in consults, with the nurses, or even behind reception!
We pride ourselves on offering great EMS - if you are a vet student thinking about a placement with us then you can expect to get a lot of experience and certainly to know more when you leave than when you arrived! Please email on firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. We can also put you in contact with previous students so they can tell you what to expect.
We are a registered training practice for Veterinary Nurses. We only ever have a maximum of one student at any time to ensure teaching is of the highest standard and so vacant placements are very rare.
We get one or two requests for work experience placements every week. Unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision not to take under 16's so that we can concentrate on our vet and nursing students.
If you are undertaking your A-levels and are looking for work experience prior to application for University then please send a CV and covering letter to email@example.com and we can consider your application.
Our vets and nurses are also happy to discuss career choices with interested students by appointment, as it is important that you get a balanced and informed view on the reality of our professions.
